The Earth lies in ruins in the aftermath of an extraterrestrial invasion, the land devastated by a desperate war with no winners between mankind and a race of vicious, intelligent creatures. The seas are drying up while the atmosphere corrodes and slowly cooks any life remaining on the now desolate rock. Food is scarce, trust even more so, and the only people left alive all have done horrific things to stay that way.
Among the few survivors is Lucas, an ordinary man hardened by the last few years after the world's end. He's fought off bandits, murderers, and stranded creatures on his long trek across the country in search of his family, the one thing that drives him to outlive his dying planet. What he finds instead is hope, something thought to be lost in the world. There's a ship buried in a crater wall. One of theirs. One that works. To fly it, Lucas must join forces with a traitorous alien scientist and a captured, merciless raider named Asha. But unless they find common ground, all will die, stranded on a ruined Earth.
Combining gritty post-apocalyptic survival and epic space opera, The Last Exodus is the beginning of a new action-packed science fiction adventure where the future of the human race depends on its survivors leaving the past behind.

Carrig Apocalypse stories are all the rage lately, with films, shows, and books like World War Z, "Walking Dead," and "Falling Skies" as variations on the theme of humanity struggling to survive in the face of a worldwide cataclysm. Paul Tassi's The Last Exodus mines familiar ground--a world devastated by alien attack, with most of the population wiped out--and does something unexpected by avoiding all the usual tropes. Most of the time, the "end of the world" in fiction is figurative, but here it's literal. Earth is a dying piece of rock. Groups working together are the exception, rather than the rule. In a story that begins with no hope for the human race, it goes to AMAZING places. I literally could not put it down. The Last Exodus is a classic sci-fi adventure with modern sensibilities. The characters are fully-realized people and fascinating to follow around, scarred by living through the end of the world but still so very human(except Alpha, who isn't human but fast became my favorite character through his mix of pragmatism and dry wit). The story itself, involving a group of unlikely allies with a plan to escape the dying planet, moved briskly and unpredictably.I highly recommend this book to anyone who loves sci-fi, but tends to avoid sci-fi novels. It never overstays its welcome or gets bogged down in technobabble, moving from scene to scene like the best films of its genre. You will not be disappointed!

Most are set in a world decimated by nuclear war, ravaged by disease, or struggling to survive when all of the modern conveniences they've come to rely on are rendered useless by EMPs. The Last Exodus has elements of these as well, but they are caused by alien invaders that leave behind a dying planet. While violence is an integral part of war and those who remain are willing to do whatever necessary to survive one more day, it was refreshing that the story could be told without cursing and vulgarity on every page. The action is nonstop and the storyline is creative and fresh...well done, Paul!!

By WitchyWomyn We have all wondered what an intergalactic war would be like, how we might defend ourselves, what would the aftermath be like. The author brings us such a story of war, survival, the aftermath, the survivors and their stories. We also get to see contact with aliens and an intergalactic fight for survival. I'm trying to write a review without spoilers, which is very hard to do. This book is well worth the read. Self-published with very few errors, a major achievement. Great story, good character development. I would have preferred to know the story behind the gun's name much earlier in the book. It came across as an adolescent tendency until the story on it was finally told. **Recommended**If this review has been helpful to you, please click yes below. Thank you.
