About the Author
Preston Lerner, a regular contributor to Automobile magazine, has written about motorsports for publications ranging from Sports Illustrated to the New York Times. Lerner has co-authored Motorbooks titles Winning: The Racing Life of Paul Newman and History's Greatest Automotive Mysteries, Myths, and Rumors Revealed with Matt Stone.
Dave Friedman was Shelby American's official photographer in the 1960s, accompanying the team to races all around the world. He is a longtime motorsports and film-still photographer and the author of several motor racing books, as well as a photography contributor to dozens more. Friedman lives in Newport Beach, California.

By Jose Lopez Ford GT:How Ford Silenced The Critics,Humbled Ferrari and Conquered Le Mans.I Knew I had to have the book when I saw the title specifically Humbled Ferrari although I recall differently that the titled included Embarrassed Ferrari?Perhaps the change was for legal reasons or not to offend the Prancing Horse Tifosi.Regardless,There have been many books done on the Ford GT/GT40 or As I call It the Lola GT/Ford GT40 then Ford IV. The Author who has done excellent books such as the Scarab book which I cherish,and the Photographer Dave Friedman of who I have all three editions of his Corvette Grand Sport/Lightweights book have done it again this time together in this wonderful big Hardcover that commemorates the 50th Anniversary of America beating Ferrari at it's own Game.Personally I hate The blue oval,and I do like Ferrari but have always loathe Enzo and the way he operated,However there are many aspects to any one story which here is covered for the first time from neither a Pro-Ford stance nor Pro-Ferrari and seems pretty unbiased.The photography of the period is top-notch the new GT is mentioned briefly and a photo or two but the focus of the book is neither the Modern so-called Ford GT's or the Politically Correct and Gasp V6 Powered(No V8?Blasphemy!)GT. Instead it's the story although not minute by minute but the overall of the development process.The Fact the Lola GT was Chevrolet powered(Still one in existence,the Mecom Car)is not mentioned.Although Eric Broadley's involvement is told and there are some interesting details that have been presented here in this book and not in any previous Ford GT books.I do not like in the start of the book the author's tone regarding corporate involvement/corporations to that effect as if it was bad or the anti-establishment mumbojumbo speak of which I see as the only flaws of this otherwise great book even for this FordHating Fan,(Corvettes and Chaparrals Thank you).The enemy of the GT is covered such as the Chaparral 2D AND 2F and of course those pesky Ferraris.I would love to see A Chevy(Chaparral)VS Ford GT Vs Ferrari Book to compliment this book.The book also shows the brief "Mercury" GT logo'd (one appearance only)Cars from Daytona which I like.This book is better than Go Like Hell which is more like a Soap Opera style book than a book of facts.In fact I would say this is the best Ford GT VICTORY BOOK(Since the street cars are mentioned but glossed over)I have ever read and have had to pleasure to own my bias aside I highly Recommend it.There is too much to do justice in a review for this book!Bravo!
