The IT departments need to struggle a lot to bring them into a good shape by spending thousands of man days efforts towards data validation, cleansing, transforming, consolidating and presenting to the users. At the same time the BI Project evaluation for its implementation is a challenge to any IT organization. The resources should be well understood on its activities by collecting latest information. They also need to work in collaboration with the technical teams by understanding the latest design and development requirements. At the same time they need to confirm with the users on their understanding of the latest requirements before stepping into the evaluation process. This activity denotes lot of resource education is required for BI Projects evaluation. One might get the following questions also into their mind: What kind of techniques can be used for data transformation? Why do you need to evaluate thoroughly the BI applications? Why do you need a Big Bang kind of test coverage for BI Projects? Why do you need different environments for BI Projects? What kind of testing is involved? Is there any test automation process involved for BI projects? If you are nominated as a business representative to certify the ETL/BI Application; you might ask some of the following questions. i) Is the appropriate data being extracted? ii) If the source data element is split into multiple columns, is it done correctly during the transformation process? iii) If some data elements are merged together did any integrity problems result from this transformation process? iv) Is the data loaded correctly into the appropriate BI target databases and the appropriate BI tables? v) Can the data in the BI target databases be reconciled with the source files and source databases? Where are the reconciliation totals stored? vi) Are data values correctly transformed and cleansed? Is bad data slipping through without notice? vii) Is the load performance adequate? Living with Postcards is a non-fiction book that describes the author's close relationship with old postcards, mainly fantasy ones. She has collected them since the nineteen seventies and now owns over two thousand of these charming, beautiful, historic items. She started fanatically collecting them whilst writing her thesis on Fantasy in Postcards at Art College, where she was studying for a graphic design degree. Her thesis won her a first with distinction, whereas her graphic art annoyingly gained her only a 2:2. She was asked by her art history tutor to lecture on the subject of fantasy in postcards, but as she was only twenty one at the time she did not feel ready and declined the offer. All of the cards in this book are from her own collection.

About the Author Joy Mutter was born in Jersey in the Channel Islands and lived there for eighteen years. She lived and worked in Kent as a professional graphic designer for twenty years. Joy moved to Oldham in 2012 and has been writing full-time since then. She has written and published eight books since 2007. Her first three books are mainly autobiographical and form 'The Mug Trilogy'. Books in the trilogy are 'A Slice of the Seventies', 'The Lying Scotsman' and 'Straws'. Her fourth book, 'Potholes and Magic Carpets' is contemporary fiction. 'Living with Postcards' is her first non-fiction book. 'Random Bullets' is a thriller with a fantasy twist and was released in 2015. In 2016, Joy published a collection of short stories in 'Her demonic Angel' plus a contemporary thriller called 'The Hostile'. All of her books are available on Amazon in paperback and Kindle editions. Some of her work is also available in audiobook versions.

By faithful urban reader I would say 4.5 stars, because YA is not my favorite genre. This book is outstanding on a lot of levels, though. First of all, McPike just nails so many elements: family interaction, high school peer group stuff and the student- teacher-administrator environment. Her dialogue and situations are right on. She also uses a little-used urban fantasy theme and portrays it will skill and intelligence, reducing the woo-woo aspect in favor of showing how it could work. So, we are brought into this universe and can inhabit it along with Lali. Kai Awana is your standard "man of mystery" but there is room for this character to grow. The various plot themes are handled well and the climax of book 1 proceeds in an exciting but believable way. The ending provides a perfect setup for Book 2. Very strong start for this new series.

Interesting premise, but hard to connect with By Jesse Xodus has an interesting premise, some great twists and turns, and the relationship between the two main characters - Kai and Lali - is full of fun sibling-like bickering. It's refreshing after so many books of instalove and characters swooning over each other left and right -- A sort-of romance does develop, but it's not your typical YA love plot.The first half of the book moves slowly as Lali learns how to use her new powers and learns about the Astralli - a race of people who can astral project. At times, this part of the book had a hard time holding my attention. The driving force between Lali's actions is her mother, Kai's - his sister. The reader doesn't really know either of these people, or have any real interest in their wellbeing, and yet that motivation is supposed to propel the entire story forward. Besides one brief memory towards the beginning of the book, we don't even know what Lali's relationship with her mom looked like, or how she fit into the family dynamics. It was very hard to care that she was gone, when we knew absolutely nothing about her.Around the 60% mark, the book got very complicated, and the pacing was so quick... I got really lost. Xodus has a very complicated plot, and unfortunately, the author tried to cram most of the twists, turns, betrayals, backstories, etc. into the last 40% of the book. On top of that, in the middle of this, Lali's siblings all get their powers and we're trying to understand that as well. This book would have been way better if half the "superpower boot camp" chapters had been nixed and replaced with a slower-paced version of the second half of the book.The writing is well-edited (again, refreshing to see in a self-published book!) and solid, although many of the protagonist's emotions are told to us instead of letting us feel what she is feeling. It added another layer of distance between the reader and the story - we don't care about her mother, and are also not connecting emotionally to what is happening directly, but through an intermediary, the protagonist's thoughts.The most interesting subplot in the book - Nelson, Paisley, and her dad's reactions to her powers and suddenly different behavior - is briefly touched on and then ignored. Nelson, to me, was the most interesting character, since he was a giant sweetheart and clearly has feelings for Lali, but he barely got any screen time. I really wish he had been more involved in the story, as the clash between her old life and her new life would have added more tension and real emotion to the book.Overall, this is a fun adventure story full of superpowers and rescues and a complicated plot. The great ideas behind it is part of what made it frustrating for me, personally, to read. I wanted it to be done WELL, wanted so many of the opportunities presented by the characters and the plot to be used to their full potential... and they weren't. So while this was entertaining and fun, it lacked the substance needed to get a 4 or 5 star rating.

McPike writes. The story and wording has a way off pulling you right in from the get go making it very hard to put down. So good in fact, I had it read in two days.Xodus revolves around Lali, a young girl just turning sixteen who’s dealing with taking care of her younger siblings after their mother had abandoned them, when all of a sudden she begins to astral project, an ability that at first is terrifying and has her convinced she’s losing her mind. Then Kai enters her life, a boy with similar abilities to her own, and motives she’s unsure of, making her question the real reason her mother left. Entering into an uneasy alliance with Kai—she helps him find his sister, he helps her find her mother—she’s thrust into a world full of dangers and lies where she discovers who she is, while struggling with whether or not she can truly trust Kai.This book had me on the edge of my seat with every twist and turn from the very beginning. The characters were believable and well written and the story was well thought out. I cannot wait for the next installment in The Astralis Series. Well done, K.J. McPike.

I like his straight forward and point-wise approach. While there seems to be a lot to do, his checklists and urgency guides helped me a lot.

Nobody writes like Kloss. His language is beautiful, shocking, and masterful. This is the kind of book that will get into your mind for weeks and weeks after you finish it. We are lucky to have writers like Kloss out there, people who write complex, rewarding fiction for those of us who want to engage with texts on a deeper level.You should also check out his first novel, The Alligators of Abraham. It's amazing.

The illustrations are a nice bonus, but Kloss already does an incredible job painting the picture of a charred, unforgiving landscape and what dwells upon it. It would be easy to compare the prose to some of the obvious influences, but for me it stood apart in its approach to the ghastly, using the same stern, bloody lessons of other novels, but in a language more disconnected from brutal reality. It would be easy to picture the black-winged horror that follows Joseph throughout his life penning these very words, searing the letters into yellowed parchment with the tip of a grisly claw.I don't know the story of Joseph Smith other than in parody. The Revelator could be thought of as a re-telling, but it seems more appropriate to call it a re-imagining of the tales through a lens more satanic and ultimately more true to life. But don't think that because the story template was already there that the author only had to cut-and-paste. The language is brilliant and terrible in nature, at times reflecting the serene blackness of divine power or the putrid reality of our waking lives. It is a feat of fiction, not so impenetrable to be unreadable, but still provocative enough to elicit fear and awe in the reader. For me, it sets a high water-mark in reading for 2016 that will be difficult to find an equal to.

It's an incredible follow up to his novel The Alligators of Abraham, but it's more straightforward, more emotional, and funnier. It takes all that he did so brilliantly in that first novel and ramps it up while also making it more accessible.It's a huge achievement from a writer who will some day be up for so many major literary prizes.

VenedicktovA copy of this book was provided to me by Inked Rainbow Reads in exchange for an honest review.****4 STARS****Oh man, I was excited to read this book when I read the description. I love sci-fi, romance books. I don't often find a lot that catches my interest though. This one did.Damion longed to leave his native planet, MARS, because it was just a dead end mining town. So fortunately for him, he gets recruited and trains to be a pilot. A pretty great pilot. So great that he unknowingly attracts the interest of a CORE, a being who looks human, is human, but not really.I adored Requiem, the rebel CORE who kept killing off his pilots, waiting for Damion to arrive. I know, killing? Well, Requiem had his reasons and the pilots weren't exactly angels. Anyway, I really liked him and I thought he and Damion made a great team and lovers. The plot is typical, but it's how the story is told that sets it apart from others with the same themes.I liked how the author describe how Requiem was slowly starting to change. How he became more human-like and not so emotionless because of his connection with Damion. It was a long book so his "coming out" wasn't rushed.Damion was awesome and believable. He was told how dangerous Requiem was, but he decided to judge for himself, cautiously of course. He even gave Requiem his name. Requiem was known as CORE 47 before/ There was some moments when the book got a bit boring, but it's a good 4 stars for me.I'll be looking forward to the 2nd book.

By kara I loved the world this author created in this book!Damion a skilled pilot who was picked by a Core 47 that has been waiting for him for awhile. He only wants the best pilot and that is Damion. When you read this book it will explain how important a core is to a alpha fighter pilot.Now there were parts of this book that did really drag for me but I am glad I kept going even though the ending... All I will say about the ending without giving away any spoilers is.. Why!!! No!! I need to know what happened!Okay moving on lol. I really did like this story and these characters this author created. Yes even though there were parts that dragged I am so happy I kept going because by the end of this book I was hooked.Now I can not wait to read the next book in this series to see what happens next with Damion and Core 47.So all together I really liked this book!I would recommend this book!I received this book free in exchange for an honest review from Inked Rainbow Reads.

By Dan Mitton (Originally reviewed for Love Bytes Reviews with a copy provided by the author / publisher for an honest review.)I picked up this book when another author I’ve reviewed recommended it to me on Goodreads. Since it was DSP Publications book, and I love their books usually, I jumped on it! I’ve got to say I really liked the book. The authors did a good job with world building. I had a few background questions which I didn’t get answers for in this book, but I’m guessing more will be revealed in future installments. I’m going to do one spoiler and tell you that this book ends in a HUGE cliffhanger, which won’t be resolved until at least the end of 2016, or maybe a little later, so if you can’t live with that…then this wouldn’t be a good book for you.Damion Hawk is a poor miner from Mars. His family has been on Mars for so many years that his family can’t even trace when they arrived. They’ve never been wealthy, instead barely surviving on the low wages paid for mining. Damion longs for something more, and finds it when he applies for a military position with Chrysalis Corporation, where he hopes to become a Fighter Pilot and see the solar system. A couple years later, all trained, and being one of the top trainees, he is off for his first assignment. He knows it will be a few years before his Fighter Pilot dream will come true, but he is on his way.Core 47 is a heavily modified human who has been intensely physically and mentally manipulated since his birth to become a human machine…with no feelings and no emotions. His body is full of computer jacks and he is the property of Chrysalis Corporation and considered disposable. I would have liked a little more detail about the Core program. I read it as they are basically slaves, but I didn’t see any other incidence of slavery in the world building, unless I missed it.Core 47 has killed three Fighter Pilots assigned to him, and now he has announced that Damion is the Fighter Pilot he has been waiting for the entire time. Don’t get the wrong impression, the guys who were killed were evil and deserved to die, so you won’t have any sympathy for them.I enjoyed the story of how these two vastly different men came together as a team, and beyond. Will they survive each other, and survive Chrysalis Corporation and the shadowy plots against them by a shady Commander and the mysterious “Creators”?In closing, I’ll be honest. I really liked the book right up until I flipped that last page…2 minutes before a self-destruction sequence completes…and we get a “To Be Continued”. I do though recommend the book for anyone who enjoys a good sci-fi book, set in the distant future, with some good world building and an interesting story line, plot and characters.

These books are well known for delivering a user guide that the manufacturer should have written. The guide is written in plain English, is well illustrated and clearly laid out.Why only 4 stars? There is a rather obvious error in Figure 2.3, the illustration for "The Nikon's D5500 Back Panel". It shows the Mode dial, but calls it the Command dial. The description describes the Command dial, but the illustration doesn't even show Command dial (is cut off on right side of picture). The Mode dial is accurately shown and described in Figure 2.12. The Command dial is also shown in Figure 2.12, but is not described. The page locations of these two descriptions should be swapped (and should have been caught by the editor).

You don't have to be a techno-geek to read and get useful information from this series of books.I only became aware of the new Fire 7, $49 version of the Kindle Fire a few days ago, and serendipitously, saw the "All New Fire 7 User Guide almost immediately afterward. With the holidays coming up, and a Fire available now that makes gift giving the device possible for me, I wanted to know more about it. Having bought and read Tom and Jenna's other books, I immediately downloaded this new volume.This e-book user Guide has it all. New features are detailed, and best of all, step by step instructions are provided to save you all the frustration of getting a new device to work fresh out of the box. This book is great for all the questions we have. This is our 3rd instructional book from Tom and Jenna. Thanks to you guys, my 80 something husband can do all kinds of fun activities with his new Kindle Fire.

I was wrong. This book was through and concise with useful and easily understood tips. Wish I had bought it the time I purchased my Fire.

About the Author Matthew Neill Null a recipient of the Mary McCarthy Prize and the Michener Copernicus Society of America Award, and his fiction appears in American Short Fiction, Ecotone, the Oxford American, Ploughshares, The PEN /O. Henry Prize Stories, and The Best American Mystery Stories. A native of West Virginia, he holds an MFA from the Iowa Writers Workshop and was a fellow at the Fine Arts Work Center in Provincetown, Massachusetts, where he is currently the writing coordinator. This is his first novel.

Brilliant Historical Novel, Beautifully Written and Perfectly Paced By Ulysses616 This novel has everything a literary novel should have: finely drawn characters, gorgeous language, vivid evocation of setting, and--gasp!--a plot. It is filled with tension and mystery in the best non-pulpy sort of way. I'm especially astonished by how credibly the young author brings to life an era that preceded him by many decades--the West Virginia of 1904 (and, through flashbacks, as early as the American Civil War) is as richly alive as the most of-the-moment fiction out there. With its refreshingly modern look at bygone times, the bold omniscience of its POV strategy, its characters' eccentric names (Cur Greathouse and Asa Neversummer are a couple of great ones), and the author's harpoon-sharp language, which manages to be lyrical and brutal at once, the book resembles in some respects a novel like William H. Gass's Omensetter's Luck, though it never succumbs to the occasional bagginess and obscurity that characterize parts of Gass's otherwise brilliant novel. It also reminded me at times of Denis Johnson's work in Train Dreams and Edward P. Jones' fiction, which also roves all over time, hop-scotching from one character's point of view to another's to achieve a brimming sense of a fully inhabited society. Even if those comparisons mean little to you, read this novel. It's one of the best I've read in a good long minute.

The writing is direct, poignant, resonant, as crisp as the mountain air it evokes. A powerful and gripping story of environmental destruction and the laborers during the early union movement that is all too relevant today. By focusing on the workers, their relationships, desires, struggles, Null paints an incredible picture of the times, the rich lives that are washed away in the current of capitalist "progress", the toll of which is the efficient and brutally mechanical exploitation of both nature and the individual.

Honey from the Lion educates us about the impact of the logging and railroad industries on the people and ecology of West Virginia in the early twentieth century. Who knew that in the WV mountains,130 years ago, there were vast tracts of massive 800-year-old trees to rival the Sequoias? -- all ultimately logged to feed the coffers of out-of-state logging company executives. This ecological disaster, along with the beginnings of union organizing (with plenty of violence and messiness), forms the historical backdrop for the narrative.The characters, mostly logging laborers, are for the most part, rough, coarse and even brutal. Without sentimentality, Null paints their underlying humanity in all its sweetness and awfulness.The history and character development would be enough to make this book worth reading –but then there is the beautiful writing, which often enters that zone between prose and poetry. The imagery and metaphors play like music and fly by before you can take them all in. This is not a book you can read without paying attention.
