About the Author "The Night Before Christmas" was written by Clement Clarke Moore in 1823, under the original title "A Visit From St. Nicholas." David Ercolini was inspired to illustrate children's books while teaching elementary school art classes. Ercolini is the illustrator of Not Inside This House! written by Kevin Lewis. Moore, but this book gives a much more light-hearted, funny take on the story. The cartoon illustrations are detailed and over-the-top festive. I mean, this family LOVES Christmas decorations- its wonderful in an "ugly sweater party ironic" kind of way. They have ornaments hanging off every possible surface and instead of the classic cookies and milk for Santa, he has a full goody spread. Even their pet fish has a little Christmas tree to celebrate with.In all seriousness, the kind of detail put into each page is lovely- almost like an "I Spy" book. Even if (though) you've already read countless versions- there's always room for one more! It is amazing how the illustrations can change the whole tone of the story.

By Christine Lacey So creative, I just adore the illustrations as did my grandchildren. An age old story with a bit of a modern twist! My grandchildren keep finding new things each time they read the book, so much to look at! I would most definitely recommend this book for children of any age, including seniors who still feel like kids.
