By Brandon Schulman Joshua thoughtfully details all the parts, steps, and tools needed to create wooden spoons (and with imagination other things too). Its less of a step by step book and more of a great understanding to inspire you to actually get up and do something! Beautiful photographs and just a lovely read all around. If you have any desire to start this hobby I highly recommend this book as a great starting point. All you need is this book, youtube, and some very fun hand tools to work with.

Stevens As an avid collector of contemporary hand carved spoons (see my A Gathering of Spoons), i'm delighted to see such an attractive and well thought out book that should encourage its readers to explore putting it to practical use. In recent years there has been a notable increase in the number of spoon makers that Vogel's images and careful instructions should increase.

It will make you appreciate the art of spoon making. Yeah, they convinced me, it's an art. I wanted to try woodworking for the first time and thought something small like a spoon would work. This book will tell you how to make a spoon from start to finish, including all the tools required, with recommendations. It was too ambitious for me as a newbie to woodworking, but I will hold onto it to revisit when I have some more experience.
