Bobbie Titan is not just another Barbie clone at the Kain's Advanced Research Institute (KARI). Even though she physically looks just like the other girls who received a special cancer treatment that turned them all into blond hair, blue-eyed look-alikes, on the inside, she's different. All of the other teenagers at KARI have super powers. The girls can disappear or change their appearance. The boys are fast or strong. Bobbie is frustratingly normal until she discovers that she can predict the future. After she uses her ability to save a KARI administrator, Bobbie can no longer hide in the crowd. Being KARI's new champion is short-lived. Bobbie suddenly finds herself separated from the other students and on the run from some powerful people who are afraid she will use her new abilities for evil. Bobbie must figure out how to rescue her classmates and learn the mystery behind all the teenagers' powers while staying one step ahead of those willing to go to extremes to control her.

Since its proceeds are going to help fund a high school program, I wasn't sure if this book would be any good or not so I was pleasantly surprised how fun it is! It is a fast-paced book with great characters. The concept is very original and creative and I found myself not wanting the book to end. I hope that there will be a sequel!

Mark of Kain is an intriguing first step with a capable group of teens that are resourceful, creative and capable. Anyone looking for a light, easy read that is engaging would do well reading this book.

By ColorMeCurvy From the first page you're thrown into the unique world of Bobbie Titan, you are in for an adventure! Full of realistic, believable, likeable characters. The plot is one that never gets boring. A page turner. I found myself not wanting to put it down and even more excited to resume. The only slight critique I had was this. The book is told from the view point of 14/15 year old Bobbie Titan. For a book that is from the vantage point of a teenage girl it lacked some of the emotions that go with being a teenage girl. Bobbie is level headed, intelligent, and excellent problem solver, but I felt a bit cold. Teens have dynamic, and often dramatic moods of which it seems Bobbie muted. in spite of that it's a great read all the same. I did however love that the sexuality of the teens wasn't sugar coated like many books today. It was refreshing to see an author's portrayal of teenages and their mindsets be so right on the money. I plan on recommending this book to friends and family alike. I do hope this book goes on to raise the much needed funds for the student service center at PHS! Your office was essential to so many students when I attended there, as I'm sure it is now. Good luck! I look forward to more from Lynn Evans! :)
