About the Author Whit McClendon was born on October 31, 1969 in Freeport, Tx. He grew up in Angleton Texas and was active in martial arts, track and field, and playing the clarinet in band. One year at Texas A & M proved that lacrosse was far more fun than electrical engineering, and he eventually graduated with a degree in Engineering Design Graphics from Brazosport College. After working in the petrochemical field as a CAD drafter for many years, Whit finally realized his life’s dream of becoming a full-time martial arts instructor. He now lives with his family in Katy, Texas, plays lacrosse as often as possible, and runs Jade Mountain Martial Arts. He laughs a lot more now than he did when he worked at the engineering firm.

By Amazon Customer After enjoying the first book, Mage's Burden, I found this second book, Gart's Road, to be equally action packed and entertaining. New characters and beloved animals set the stage for the story of Gart finding his power and his envisioned weapon, while the chosen Guardians are exposed first hand to Mordak's evil and battle strategies. I had a hard time putting it down, making time for sleep at night! I am anxiously awaiting the third book in the series and have already recommended these books to my friends.

Gart, who is emotionally and physically scarred, begrudgingly seeks that which Brunar the Mage has promised him. Recoil at the evil descending on Laro, guarded by Brunar and the other five Guardians of the Jidaan. Revel in the selflessness and heroism interwoven with magick and humor. Every one of the good guys comes alive on the page, making you root for them and thirst for more when the book concludes.McClendon's writing is vivid and smooth, bringing to life all manner of creatures. He deftly portrays nuanced moments as well as raging battles. It's a book that draws you into its world with creativity and boundless imagination. It's far and away the best book I read in 2015.

We get to see the Guardian in action, using their Gifts.The story is moved along at a good pace, with lots of action.The story does a good job of giving bits of information without revealing the final outcome, and still leaves you wanting more at the end of the book.Can't wait to read the next one!
