About the Author
Mary Beth Temple is the author of 9 knitting and crochet books, including The Secret Language of Knitters. She is a contributing pattern editor for Vogue Crochet, and her work appears frequently in national knitting and crochet magazines. Temple is the owner and lead designer of “Hooked for Life,” a line of contemporary crochet and knit patterns. She hosts Getting Loopy, a popular crochet-centric interactive podcast.

By Robyn Schrager I admit to being skeptical about this book, I mean once you have seen the youtube video and know how to do the 8 stitch scarf, what else could there be? How could there possibly be enough to justify an entire book? I didn't give enough credit to the creativity of Mary Beth Temple (full disclosure, I know and have taken a class from Temple, but I was still surprised).The basics are indeed there, with clear photographs, step-by-step directions as well as useful tips. If you've never tried this technique before you will achieve success easily by following this book. Then she goes on to show how you can add to the process by making vertical and horizontal stripes, and creating the popular color blocks. There's even an Ombre color technique to match your ombre hair-do!The book is full of simple scarves which illustrate how just the basics can be enough, with just the addition of a special yarn or two, or with a change in color. Those patterns are useful to show what you can do with very little effort (even a child could manage them easily). I thought the Neon Braid Scarf would have been better with only 3 pom poms, or with smaller pom poms, but that's a small detail. Plenty of photographs of the finished garments both on models and on hangars show the details well.What really sets this book apart, though, is that Temple shows how to move beyond the simple scarf, and create beautiful wraps. The One Point Wrap, Shaped Shawl, and the especially beautiful Striped Knotted Stitch Capelet have me ready to wrap yarn around my arms again. Well worth the purchase price, this book was a lovely surprise, and will be a good addition to any knitting pattern book collection.

Morrell Arm Knitting by Mary Beth Temple will be a great addition to all the other wonderful Knitting and Craft books I have acquired throughout the years. My Knitting Class instructor gave me this book and I was excited from the moment I opened it. Thank you Marie I'm having a ball.Arm Knitting is a super fun and easy book to read and understand. It gives you clear step by step instructions, easy to learn techniques, beautiful color photos and helpful tips to make your Arm Knitting experience an enjoyable one. It also list the level of difficulty for each pattern and that is a deal breaker for me. Sometimes I just want to make a simple, easy and fast project without putting to much time and energy into it. This is also a great go to knitting activity book for people of all ages.I've already tried a few projects from this book and I am totally hooked. I enjoy doing a variety of different crafts but Arm Knitting gives your finish work a beautiful, classy and elegant look. It is definitely a book with great gift ideas from scarves to cowls to wraps. I can't wait to start giving some away.What I like most about this book is how much you can do with Arm Knitting. From casting on to learning a plain stitch to a twisted stitch,knotted stitch and binding off. The list goes on and on. It's amazing to see how you get a knitted look without using needles. This is a great way to use up all that extra yarn. I love Arm Knitting and I am truly enjoying this book. Looking forward to more Arm Knitting books with different patterns.

Carroll As a knitter and a crocheter, I've seen a lot of books and articles that promise you a quick project, or a great way to use up single skeins of yarn or odd amounts left over from other projects. Within an hour after reading Arm Knitting, I'd made a wrap, using yarn from my stash. I was aiming for a cowl, but I had so much fun it wound up being too long! Now that I've got the technique (the step-by-step photos are nice and big and easy to follow), I think I'm going to try making the Shaped Shawl.This technique is the super quick, major stashbuster I can really use right now, and Mary Beth explains it all really clearly. The projects are fun, and all use Lion Brand Yarn (easy to find at craft stores). You could whip up a scarf as a grad gift in favorite team or school colors in an hour, start to finish!
