Directions are straight forward and easy to understand for a beginner. The photos are a big help and really make this a good book for anyone trying to get a shop going from scratch or just looking for some cool ideas to make their wood shop all that much better.

There are 2 very nice looking workbench plans, plans for a clever downdraft sanding table with air filtration, plans for a wooden plane and plans for a unique mobile base with retractable wheels. The retractable wheels idea is a very cool innovation. I'm looking to upgrade all of my tools and cabinets and workbench with some sort retractable wheelbase and the plans in this book are at the top of my list of possibilities. Retractable wheels give you more stability, if needed, and give you an adjustable height capability at the same time. There are lots of other ideas, tips and jigs in the book that would appeal to novice to intermediate user levels, for router tables, saws, etc. It is a well rounded book, covering a lot of different areas.

Since these are all from The Woodworker's Journal which is published by Rockler, in many of the plans, they list part numbers for the less common components you might need.I showed this book to a friend who's also a woodworker and he enjoyed some of the ideas as well. Amusingly enough all different from the ones I liked. I guess it just goes to show that we've all got different things about our shops that we'd like to fix.Don't forget you can take a look at the table of contents and some of the contents online.
