About the Author

Benjamin Cane

Benjamin Cane has nearly 10 years of experience in Linux systems administration. His first systems administration role was in 2006. At that time, he worked for a web hosting company supporting thousands of FreeBSD and Linux systems. Afterwards, he joined a managed services company that specialized in managing mission-critical systems. There, he worked his way to the position of a lead systems engineer, providing 24x7 support for highly critical enterprise systems that ran Red Hat Enterprise Linux. Now, Benjamin is a systems architect. He focuses on building High and Continuous Availability environments within the financial services industry. He is also currently a Red Hat Certified Engineer and Certified Ethical Hacker. With his experience in mission-critical environments, he has learned to identify and troubleshoot very complex issues quickly, because often these environments have a low tolerance for downtime. Being able to identify the root causes of very complex systems issues quickly is a skill that requires extensive knowledge of Linux and troubleshooting best practices. In addition to this book, Benjamin writes about Linux systems administration and DevOps topics on his blog at http://bencane.com. He is also the project founder for Runbook (https://github.com/Runbook/runbook), an open source application designed to monitor and automatically resolve infrastructure and application issues.

May I remind you that this is not a "getting started guide", but a troubleshooting guide. This assumes you are somewhat familiar with Red Hat Linux and you may be having difficulty with a particular scenario. If that's your situation, then this book IS your book. The information is organized well with respect to topics and real world scenarios and the appropriate solutions. I found that most of the principles described behind the scenarios could be generally used to troubleshoot other Linux environments as well; which makes this book even more valuable.I think a book like this should be written for every OS that exists.

The book has a nice flow, and all of the information was well received. I enjoyed the section on tcpdump, and the coverage on /dev was on point. I highly recommend this book not only for Red Hat, but it's pertinent to Centos and you can even tweak it enough to get away with doing some diagnostic work on Debian based Linux distributions.

By adamd I'm a sophmore Mechanical Engineering student who was assigned a project which required a solid basic understanding of electric motors and their control. This book has been a Godsend! All the desired practicality, without the clutter of theory so you can implement projects quickly and safely! Chapter 5 may be scary for those who are squeamish when it comes to math (laplace transforms) but those without an engineering background can skip that chapter without serious detriments. Scarpino did an excellent job with this text!

Peter Weverka, the author, has drawn heavily on modern teaching methods (Tell them what you're going to tell them --- Tell them --- Tell them what you told them). It might sound simplistic, but it works.I highly recommend this book to anyone who has the Office 2016 applications -- Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote, Outlook, Access, and Publisher. This book also devotes entire chapters to charts, SmartArt diagrams, the drawing tools, and graphics. There is also a "mini-book" about how to handle files with OneDrive, Microsoft's cloud tool for sharing and collaborating with others. In short, an excellent book!

1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Coming of Age By Arthur Walzer This book works on a number of levels. It is the story of a nine-year old boy, Billie, who in guilty compensation from his physician neighbor for accidentally breaking his arm with a too powerful kick of a soccer ball, accedes to Billie’s request to attend a church member only Labor Day pig roast. Billie had longingly watched the pig roast in previous years; now he was to participate and experience the fulfillment of his greatest hope. A young reader could easily identify with Billie’s attraction to the romance of the fire, the spit, and the rotating pig. But before, during, and after the roast Billie’s pleasure is significantly attenuated and his life complicated by the pending divorce of the parents of a friend and his gradual awareness of that his neighbor-doctor-host has sought respite from a perpetually unhappy wife in flirtation with his secretary. By the end of this coming-of age novella, Billie returns home a changed boy, acknowledged in his insistence that his mother provide him a robe when he ascends from his bath in her presence. . All this is set in summer-ending picnic on that most archetypal of transitional moments in school-age child’s life, Labor Day, before a roasting pig whose fat “makes a sound like a rattlesnake” as it hits the fire below. But the novella is more than “pre-teen fiction.” The plot pits the joy-killing conformity and devotion to propriety of its women characters against a male restlessness that husbands cannot or will not articulate but do act upon. The children, both Billie and the doctor’s daughter, Dolly, attempt to manage the fall out of dysfunctional married couples without taking sides.Although written in the third person, the perspective is that of the nine-year old Billie, captured in paratactic style that strings ideas together in longish compound sentences that mimic a nine-year old’s inability to see how the separate moments he experiences relate to each other.

1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. A Delectable Feast! Rewarding on Many Levels. By Benjamin Chambers Bill Bukovsan's *Pig Roast* is a gem of a literary novella. (Maybe I should use a BBQ metaphor, but we'll go with jewelry.) Using tight third-person point of view, the piece tells the story of Billy, a 10-year-old who confronts for the first time some difficult conundrums of life: is it possible to love someone without liking them? Is it possible your "mean" adult neighbor is only mean because she's in great pain emotionally and is trying desperately to maintain a vestige of control? Why is it you feel so uncomfortable when you see your "nice" neighbor hugging his young daughter? Is everything in life better anticipated than experienced -- are letdown and disappointment inevitable? And how do you get your broken arm to stop itching under that cast? The plot is straightforward: Billy's neighbors, the Valentines, host an annual pig roast, but only invite people they know from church -- a rank outrage, Billy has always felt. This year, though, Billy worms an invite to the pig roast out of the doctor. When it comes, the event itself is awkward and strange for Billy, who knows almost no one there. Dr. Valentine and his wife have a confrontation over his decision to invite his attractive young assistant to the roast, and Dr. Valentine refuses to uninvite her. But what appears to be an affair turns out to be something else, and Billy has another lesson in the ambiguities of adult relations. Just as Billy is revolted by the roast pig he is finally served, after spending years looking forward to eating it, so he finds that life in general is not what those around him were hoping for. Indeed, the only two people who seem to truly want to be together are wildly wrong for each other --- morally out of bounds, if not out of reach. All this is executed in smooth prose, as Bukovsan displays an unerring instinct for telling detail and a young boy's perspective. There's even a nod to John Cheever's "The Swimmer" in the closing pages, as the last day of summer abruptly turns to a chilly fall, echoing the end of Billy's childhood and intimating the bleaker realities of adulthood that lie ahead for him.Highly recommended.

Chinese ceramics are among the most significant and widely collected decorative arts produced anywhere in the world, with a history that spans millennia. Despite the saturation of Chinese ceramics in global culture—in English, the word “china” has become synonymous with “porcelain”—the function of these works and the meaning of their often richly decorated surfaces are not always readily apparent.   This new installment in the successful How to Read series enlightens readers on Chinese ceramics of all kinds, using highlights from the outstanding collection of The Metropolitan Museum of Art as a teaching tool. Accessible to a general audience and written by an expert on the subject, this book explains and interprets 40 masterworks of Chinese ceramics. The works represent a broad range of subject matter and type, from ancient earthenware to 20th-century porcelain, and from plates and bowls to vases and sculptural figures. Lavish illustrations showcase these stunning works and the decorations that adorn them, including symbolic scenes, flowers, and Buddhist and Chinese historical figures.

I've been collecting vintage etiquette guides since I was a kid. They're an absolute delight to read, and they do a tremendous job of reassuring you that you are not the only person to wonder how to handle yourself or what to wear in a tricky social situation.

It may seem like a bit of a leap to go from a collection of etiquette books to a book of knitting patterns. But once you spend a bit of time with them, you'll see it's the most natural thing in the world. These guides were written before books were filled with page after page of color pictures, but their authors still had very distinct opinions about what you should be wearing. That means the books are full of marvelous descriptions that you can interpret however you choose.

That's just what I've done here. I've started with delightful quotes from some of my most treasured books and used them to design a whole host of different patterns. Each includes the quote that inspired it (because they are far too delicious not to share), and each pattern's name is taken from its quote. (For those of you wondering, the title of the book is also drawn from a particularly amusing line in one of the books.)

And, while the inspiration for the patterns may have come from vintage sources, the pieces themselves are perfectly suited to today's knitter. There's not a petticoat, corset, or lace handkerchief in the bunch. Instead you'll find socks, shawls, mitts, and hats that fit perfectly in a modern wardrobe.

Fine Things for Plain Occasions: Patterns Inspired by Vintage Etiquette Guides, by Hunter Hammersen

About the Author Hunter Hammersen didn't really like knitting the first time she tried it. She didn't much care for it the second time either. It wasn't till the third time, and the discovery of knitted socks, that she was properly smitten. Once she realized she could make up her own patterns, her fate was sealed. She's been busy designing ever since.

I'm completely flabbergasted at how brilliantly this author has taken the majority of my favorite classic characters and banded them together to fight against the daughter of Captain Hook and the evil surrounding the story.Out of all of them, I'm still stuck with Peter Pan no matter what. Rick Bush captures the essence of these characters and weaves them together in such a way that you are left satisfied. If there is going to be a sequel, I want to know! Especially if there are more classic characters on the way. This is a story for the ages for everyone to enjoy!

0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. Terrible By Nicholas Heraldson A good fiction writer is supposed to tell a story so well that you suspend disbelief. Rick Bush does neither. His 'epic' tale has Peter Pan re-animated by Victor Frankenstein after he was killed by the daughter of Captain Hook. Her name is just "Hook." She can leap between dimensions and goes both ways, as in bi-sexual. Then the book gets really silly. Bush writes like a 12 year old who has access to porn. This tripe is nothing more than derivative that is an insult to the eyes. Save your money and your time. Send "The League of Frankenstein" down to the minors.

In the shadow of a looming flood that comes every one hundred years, Tee tries to convince himself that living in a new place will mean a new identity and a chance to shed the parallels between him and his adopted father. This beautiful and dreamlike story follows Tee, a twenty-two-year-old Korean-American, as he escapes to Prague in the wake of his uncle’s suicide and the aftermath of 9/11. His life intertwines with Pavel, a painter famous for revolution; Katka, his equally alluring wife; and Pavel's partner—a giant of a man with an American name. As the flood slowly makes its way into the old city, Tee contemplates his own place in life as both mixed and adopted and as an American in a strange land full of heroes, myths, and ghosts. In the tradition of Native Speaker and The Family Fang, the Good Men Project’s Matthew Salesses weaves together the tangled threads of identity, love, growing up, and relationships in his stunning first novel, The Hundred-Year Flood.

Review

A Millions Most Anticipated Book of 2015 A Buzzfeed Pick for 17 Awesome New Books You Need to Read This Fall A Refinery29 Pick for Best Summer Reading A Gawker Review of Books Pick for 9 Must-Reads for the Fall

“Salesses’s novel dramatically documents how longing can turn, painfully, into love.” —The Millions, Most Anticipated 2015 Book Preview

“What carries us through the novel is Salesses’s gift for language: here is a meditative, poetic, modern fable crafted in haunting bursts of impressionistic prose.” —Kirkus Reviews

“Through dreamlike language, Salesses toys with our human need to control forces that are larger than us: the flood, secrets, the past, disease, the inevitability of the reality one creates for one’s self. The novel holds a meditative, reflective pace.” —Kirkus Reviews, feature interview

“Salesses delivers an immersive novel about identity, myths, and ghosts...This is an engulfing read.” —Publishers Weekly

“The novel is not only a well-rendered exploration of identity, pain, and love, but also an expertly paced story, incredibly engaging throughout.” —Askmen.com

“The Hundred-Year Flood is admirable for what it tackles, for the depth of its subject, for the risks it takes with structure, for the love triangle it quickly establishes and charges with tension, for the questions it raises about what we inherit from our parents, known or unknown, and how we ground ourselves when we’ve been living on top of lies and murky beginnings—on rising, threatening waters, you might say.” —The Rumpus

“Tee is in Prague. He is running away from memory. He is running toward myth. He is searching. In Prague, Tee meets an artist and the artist's wife. Before long, the three are drawn into a fateful series of events as Prague is laid bare by a flood that only comes every hundred years. This beautiful debut novel by Matthew Salesses is much like that flood—epic and devastating and full of natural majesty.” —Roxane Gay, author of Untamed State and Bad Feminist

"The Hundred-Year Flood yanks you off your feet, whipping you along on a brilliantly crafted adventure. You can’t fight the current and you don’t want to, either. Matthew Salesses is a new force of nature.” —Mat Johnson, author of Loving Day

“A filmic, fast-moving, disjunctive ride, The Hundred-Year Flood rollicks through an exquisitely constructed plot to arrive at a surprising destination. Matthew Salesses writes taut, intelligent, lyrical sentences. He is definitely a writer to watch, and The Hundred-Year Flood is the novel to read right this moment.” —Robert Boswell, author of Tumbledown and The Heyday of the Insensitive Bastards

“Matthew Salesses’s elegant debut is at once both minimalist and expansive, atmospheric yet grounded in vivid, astonishing details. The Hundred-Year Flood captures life distilled to its purest, most potent form. I’ll be thinking about this story for many years to come.” —Kirstin Chen, author of Soy Sauce for Beginners

“The Hundred-Year Flood spins the gorgeous and devastating tale of Tee’s quest to find his place in the world amidst the richly haunted landscape of Prague. This is a phenomenally engrossing novel, cast in prose that is at once searing and poetic, and Matthew Salesses is a once in a lifetime talent.” —Laura van den Berg, author of The Isle of Youth and Find Me

“How artfully Matthew Salesses transports his reader between Prague and the States, past and present. I fell under the spell of his lovely novel as thoroughly as his protagonist, Tee, falls under the spell of Prague and, in particular, of one of its inhabitants. The Hundred-Year Flood is a vivid, cunning, compelling narrative about inheritance and forgiveness. A wonderful debut.” —Margot Livesey, author of The Flight of Gemma Hardy

“The Hundred-Year Flood is a beautifully wrought novel about a young man who goes on a quest for self-discovery and finds himself in a city of legends, demons, and saints. Here, Tee struggles to reconcile his desire to belong with his desire to be free—his desire to be someone with his desire to be no one at all. This book is a deep, wonderful, and incredibly complex investigation into the necessary and fertile tension between resistance and submission, attraction and repulsion, and the need to create versus the need to annihilate. Poetic and dreamlike, aching with loss, and filled with the strange and enduring power of myth, The Hundred-Year Flood builds and builds until everything—the characters, their histories, their relationships and animosities, and even the city in which they live, are borne up, taken over, and forever changed by the inevitable and unpredictable tide of fate. This is an exquisite, unforgettable book about the extraordinary demands of identity and the transformative power of art and love.” —Catherine Chung, author of Forgotten Country

“The Hundred-Year Flood is a beautiful, transporting novel that lays bare the heartbreak and loss of the world while never forgetting its magic. A dreamlike exploration of how the myths and stories we tell—and those that we choose to keep to ourselves—forge our identities, this book will swallow you whole.” —James Scott, author of The Kept

“In this spellbinding novel, Matthew Salesses artfully weaves an intricate tapestry, shifting effortlessly between time, place, and identity while exploring all three subjects in the process. He succeeds in transporting the reader to a ghost Prague—a timeless, kaleidoscopic city layered with wonder and devastating sorrow.” —Kenneth Calhoun, author of Black Moon

“The Hundred-Year Flood is an incredible literary achievement. It’s not often you find a novel that is capable of accomplishing such conceptual sophistication while maintaining the narrative force of compelling fiction. At times poetic and emotional, at times brutal and devastating, this intricate tale about identity, loss, love, and purpose is a force to be reckoned with and an absolute pleasure to read." —Mario Alberto Zambrano, author of Loteria: A Novel (P.S.)

“Like the water that threatens to consume everything in its wake, the narrative is lyrical and winding, but if you have an affinity for soul-searching sagas, The Hundred-Year Flood is for you.”—Gawker Review of Books

Beautiful Prose, Disjointed Timeline By Carol Scarr The Hundred-Year Flood tells the story of a young man, Tee, who was born to a Korean mother and an American father. In late December, 2001, a few weeks after his uncle commits suicide, Tee moves from Boston to Prague. On New Year's Eve, he meets an artist and his wife, Pavel and Katka, and they invite him to come to their house so the artist can paint him.Throughout the story, Tee reflects on fitting in, on belonging. He's one of the few Asians in Prague. Over the course of weeks, he grows closer to Katka. Eventually he learns the truth about his adoption and gains insight into the relationships between his parents, aunt, and uncle. The prose is finely crafted, and contains many surprising, yet apt descriptions, such as "merciless appetites." One of my favorite passages is the explanation for why Tee chooses Prague:"He chose Prague for its resistance. A city where, for thousands of years, private lives had withstood the oppression of empires."The story is told with a disjointed timeline, starting with Tee in Massachusetts General Hospital having suffered a serious head wound. We gradually learn what happened to him and the events around the devastating flood that wiped out parts of Prague, but if you like your tales told in chronological order, this one may not be for you. Also, the e-book is "not yet enabled for searching," so if that feature is important to you, you may want to wait.

The story of being a stranger in Prague brought back strong memories of my time living in Basel, Switzerland and always feeling out of place. The flood seemed more of a dream than real; yet the story of the seal is stuck in my head.I chose this book as part of the free Amazon book of the month. It's not a book I would've ever chosen on my own but I appreciate the opportunity to be exposed to new authors.

3 of 3 people found the following review helpful. I enjoyed it By Pam Hayes The complexity of the cultural threads was impressive. I found that the story telling was almost too elusive. I was often confused about whether we were in the actual story, a flashback, or an imagining. I would suggest being a bit more straightforward and not quite as clever. I was particularly appreciative of how the relationships were resolved and finally woven together clearly.

  • At once an important social history of tobacco and smoking and a beautiful coffee table book, A Token of Elegance is ideal for art and design historians, history students, museum professionals, and collectors
  • Of great interest to jewelry historians as many cigarette holders were made for their international clientele by the major jewelry firms and this is the first book where so many cigarette holders are catalogued and photographed
The book offers an unprecedented look at cigarette holders through a selection of approximately 125 pieces from the collection of Carolyn Hsu-Balcer. Its introductory essay is both a social history of that world-changing leaf, tobacco, and a design history of its accoutrements. It examines the history of smoking from its pre-Columbian roots in the Americas through to the present-day worldwide e-cigarette craze, taking the reader on a journey from tobacco smoking as a sacred ritual, through the controversies of its worldwide spread, and the machine-rolled cigarette's role in the world wars and as a tool for European and American women's equality.Following the illustrated essay is a luxurious catalogue of newly commissioned photography that makes these diminutive objects pop off the pages with brilliant color and form. The collection includes cigarette holders in their simplest incarnations - the disposable promotional holders given away at trendy New York nightclubs - to their most exquisite - the work of Fabergé, Cartier, Tiffany, Van Cleef & Arpels and other renowned jewelers of the late nineteenth and twentieth centuries.Contents: Foreword by Carolyn Hsu-Balcer; Introduction; Chapter 1: Tobacco's Journey from the New World to the Old: Medicine and Pleasure; Chapter 2: The Rise of Cigarette Culture: The Nineteenth and Early Twentieth Centuries; Chapter 3: Smoking, Sociability, and a New Modern Era: From the First World War to the Second; Chapter 4: The Cigarette Holder's Peak and Fall: A New Culture of Smoking; Catalog; Appendix: Materials Used in Cigarette Holders; Acknowledgments; Photo Credits.

Unusual By Makri A gorgeous book, well-made, with lush photography and a sophisticated, detailed history of tobacco’s origins through 20th century Cigarette Culture when luxurious cigarette holders reached their peak in artistic design. The collection is surprising, alone, for its idiosyncrasy— like all unusual collections, what you see on these beautiful pages is the result of a sustained global hunt for works of art that had gone largely unnoticed. These cigarette holders are unique treasures that reveal a personal part of the periods in which they were designed. The book includes a thorough explanation of materials. It’s fun to imagine the time when such elegant objects were in vogue, who held them and where they went, from China to America, to Russia….

A beautiful collection By Charlotte A beautifully designed book introducing a unique collection of once useful and ubiquitious smoking accessories that presents an extrodinary range of solutions for how to gracefully hold a cigarette--from exquisite jeweled objects once belonging to royalty to disposable plastic mouthpieces, some clever, whimsical, some beautifully embellished, others simply utilitarian. This book should be of interest for cultural anthopologists, students of twentieth century crafts, fans of fine jewelry, and fashion history.

I design jewelry and this book gave me so many ideas. There are so many varieties of holders, materials and designs. I thoroughly enjoyed leafing through the book and discovering a treasure on every page - My favorite is the little silver monkey looking at himself in a diamond mirror.

I definitely got a sense of what it was like to be on board the SS Titanic--before, during, and after its demise.

Having seen a few movies about the Titanic, and visiting museums with special exhibits of Titanic artifacts, I could imagine everyhing written in the book.

A much more believable account of what really happened By CCode I believe this is a much more believable accounting from one of the survivors of this tragedy. Secondhand accounts tend to sensationalism in reporting a story. I enjoyed this book very much.

Looking back, there are five things I would have done differently. One – I would’ve tried shielding Miles from the ugliness of the mirror. Two – I would’ve listened to the warnings that despite the evil I’ve already met, worse was coming. Three – I would’ve recognized that while I was trying to keep everyone in the light, darkness crept into the hidden corners of myself I never knew existed. Four – I wouldn’t have so willingly trusted others just because they are family. Five – Most importantly, I would have shielded my heart before it turned black.

1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. recommended reading By Kyra N. Carr I loved this 2nd book. It continued with the story well, is clean (no gratuitous sex, flesh, language, violence), and enjoyable. You do, however, need to read the first book, Mirrors, to really keep a grip on the story.

0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. Good, but not as good as the first By C. Marshall As is so often the truth, the sequel does not quite live up to the original. Yes, the characters are all there and it had great moments. But to me the whole first 1/3 of the book was really slow. It seemed like people just hanging out and eating. And giggling, Oh, and eating again... It did pick up later on. It may have even picked up a little too much. Right now I have 2 very little children and am more than a little sleep deprived. When I have a rare, free moment, I am looking for an easy read. I thought the first book did that. But, without spoiling anything, there is a lot more jumping around in this one. The characters are back and forth in time and making changes that affect things later on in the story. Later becomes earlier, earlier becomes later. There were a few times where I got lost in the whole time travel aspect and just didn't have the brain power left to figure it all out. That being said, I will still buy the third book to see what happens!

You find out SO much about Grace's familys' past and the history of the mirror. We also finally meet Chris!! Who I couldn't decided if I hated or not. I love the evolution of Graces' character. We see her battle with the light and dark within in her a direct result of all the obstacles thrown at her. After finishing this book I IMMEDIATELY dived into book 3...I'm dying to know how it ends but also never want it to end.

Understand its features and limitations, get set up, and enjoy iCloud!

iCloud is a simple idea -- all your data on all your devices, via the cloud -- that becomes complex in the real world when you want everything to work efficiently so you can spend your time enjoying your media or doing actual work, instead of just fiddling with your computer.

In this best-selling title from Joe Kissell, you'll start by learning what iCloud can do, how it differs from other cloud services, and how to set it up on Macs, iOS devices, Apple TVs, and Windows-based PCs. Joe then explains the key aspects -- and hidden gotchas -- of iCloud's core features, including iCloud Photo Library, My Photo Stream, iCloud Photo Sharing, Family Sharing, iTunes Match and iCloud Music Library, iCloud Drive, Mail and Mail Drop, Contacts, Calendars, Reminders, Notes, iCloud Keychain, the iCloud Web site, Find My iPhone, Find My Mac, Find My Friends, two-factor authentication, activation lock, Back to My Mac, and backing up and restoring iOS data.

You'll be flying high with iCloud as you learn how to use:

  • iCloud Photo Library, My Photo Stream, and iCloud Photo Sharing: Move your photos around with iCloud Photo Library and/or My Photo Stream, and understand the many differences between these two services. Plus, share photos with iCloud Photo Sharing.
  • iCloud Storage: Apple gives you 5 GB of free storage space, and is happy to take your money if you want to pay for more. Find out what of your iCloud holdings counts in your storage allocation and what does not, and how to delete unwanted data.
  • iCloud Drive: Understand the iCloud Drive folder in the Finder, find the iCloud Drive app in iOS, get a grip on iCloud Drive peculiarities, and read real-world directions for using iCloud Drive to sync files.
  • Family Sharing: Quickly set up a group to share a calendar, photos, Find My iPhone map, apps and media, and more. Also, take control of what a child may purchase with Ask to Buy.
  • Mail: Understand what's on offer with an iCloud email account, and a get a grip on using Mail Drop for large attachments.
  • Calendar, Contacts, and other bits: View and manage calendar and contact data, share calendars, and send invitations to events. Plus, get going with browser bookmarks, iCloud Safari tabs, Safari Reading List, Reminders, and Notes.
  • iCloud Keychain: Store and sync login credentials and credit card details within Safari so you can access them later from any of your Apple devices.
  • iCloud Web site: Use iCloud's Web interface for apps such as Mail, Contacts, Calendar, Find My iPhone, and Find My Friends.
  • Find My...: Look in Find My iPhone/iPad/iPod touch/Mac to locate a device that's gone missing, and keep tabs on friends and family with Find My Friends.
  • iCloud Backup: Manage your iOS backups in iCloud, and find steps for restoring your backup after a problem!
  • Apple TV: Get more out of your Apple TV with iTunes Match, iCloud Photos, and iMovie Theater.
  • Back to My Mac: Connect to a far-away Mac over the Internet and use file sharing and screen sharing just as though you were on the same network.
  • Two-factor-authentication: Find savvy advice about setting a good password, and discover how to further secure your account with two-factor authentication.

Compatibility check: For the most part, this book assumes your operating system(s) are OS X 10.11 El Capitan, iOS 9 or later, Windows 7 or later, and Apple TV software version 7 or later. Although it occasionally calls attention to differences in operating systems, it doesn't provide detailed instructions for using iCloud with older software.
