It breaks down what you need to do in order to get your Wordpress site up in no time. The book gives step by step examples that you can take your time following each one. With pictures of everything, this is extremely easy and fun! I don't normally understand deep technical language, but the author of the book manages to avoid complex terminology and just keeps things simple for me. I thought I would need to pay thousands of dollars to get my website up and running, but I was completely wrong! The information in this book is so simple even a child could build a site with this book!

I'm not an advanced user of the Internet that's why clear step-by-step instructions, simple terms and illustrations are the the things which I exactly needed. If I had ordered a website, it would have cost a lot. And now I know exactly what I need and don't have to explain it to someone. I'm grateful to the author because I've acquired a really valuable skill.

Great book for Making Mission Style Furniture By Amazon Customer One of the hardest things about building Mission Style Furniture is getting the finish right. If you are only making one piece there isn't much trouble but if you're trying to match the colors of existing pieces you are headed down a rough road. Not only is this book well laid out with great projects it covers a lot of basics, including the finishing of pieces. In fact it gives multiple techniques from fuming oak to using gels. This book is not only worth the cost for the projects (the Greene and Greene Serving Table is unique) but more than worth it for the background building techniques.

5 of 5 people found the following review helpful. Progressively more challenging projects to build your tool kit and your skill set. By Christopher T. Dahle This book starts off with a few simple projects, a book case, a wine rack, a plant stand. It gives thorough and detailed instructions that will guide you though exactly how to complete each piece. These projects set the stage...your tools, your skills, your shop for the more complex projects later in the book, or for most other woodworking projects. Each of the designs are well thought out and nicely proportioned and if you built them all, you would have an eclectic family of Arts and Crafts furniture. Not cookie cutter copies from the same pattern, but rather a harmonious collection, each with comparable features but unique nonetheless. The book emphasizes and highlights tips and methods that will make you a better woodworker. It describes multiple techniques of achieving the same results so that you can adapt each project to the tools available in your shop and make your time in the shop more efficient, more productive, and more fun.If you want to build a houseful of Arts and Crafts furniture, this is an outstanding place to start. But even if you are not a big fan of the Arts and Crafts style, you will find information in the book that will improve your woodworking. This is a great book to have available in your shop, or for that matter, a great book to read by the fire when it's too cold in your shop to do anything else. (It's -4 outside and only 38 in my shop this morning.)

The photos and illustrations are first rate with a materials list for each project. I have many woodworking books that I never plan to use for an actual project, but this is an exception. I am so favorable about this book that I plan to purchase other volumes in "The Best of Woodworker's Journal Series." I trust the publisher to always produce a quality product.I live in a home built in 1915. It has rooms very similar to those pictured in this book. Now all I need to do is make some furniture to match those rooms.

Gabe Fuentes is in a race against time—and aliens—in this intergalactic sequel to Ambassador, which Booklist called “an exciting sci-fi adventure, perceptively exploring what it means to be alien,” from National Book Award winner William Alexander. When we last left Earth’s Ambassador, Gabe Fuentes, he was stranded on the moon. And when he’s rescued by Kaen, another Ambassador, things don’t get better: It turns out that the Outlast— a race of aliens that has been systematically wiping out all other creatures—are coming. And they’ve set their sights on Earth. Enter Nadia. She was Earth’s Ambassador before Gabe, but left her post in order to stop the Outlast. Nadia has discovered that the Outlast can conquer worlds by travelling fast through lanes created by the mysterious Machinae. No one has communicated with the Machinae in centuries, but Nadia is determined to try, and Gabe and Kaen want to help her. But the three Ambassadors don’t know that the Outlast have discovered what they are doing, and have sent assassins to track them down. As Nadia heads deeper into space to find the Machinae, Gabe and Kaen return to Earth, where Gabe is trying to find another type of alien—his father, who was deported to Mexico, and who Gabe is desperate to bring home. From a detention center in the center of the Arizona desert to the Embassy in the center of the galaxy, the three Ambassadors race against time to save their worlds in this exciting, funny, mind-bending adventure.

Zvezda Lunar Base: 1974

Nadia Antonovna Kollontai, the ambassador of her world, was not on her world. She went walking on the moon. Sunlight bounced off the gray stone around her. She felt intense warmth through her bulky orange suit. The reflected glare blotted out all other stars. It turned the sky into absolute darkness. That felt close and comforting rather than infinite, as though Nadia had hidden both herself and the moon underneath a very thick blanket. She looked forward to throwing that blanket aside. “Nadia?” Her radio crackled and sputtered. “Zvezda base to Ambassador Nadia . . .” “Hello, Envoy,” she said. “By my count your oxygen is running low.” The Envoy spoke Russian, and sounded exactly like her uncle Konstantine. It had borrowed Uncle’s voice to seem familiar, familial, and comforting. It did sound familiar, but not especially comforting. Uncle Konstantine and Aunt Marina had had many practical virtues between them, but neither one of them had ever learned how to be comforting. “Probably,” she said, as though she didn’t care how much air she had left. This wasn’t actually true. She had kept careful tabs on her oxygen. “Please cut short your unnecessary moonwalk and come back inside.” “On my way,” she said, but she circled back the long way around to give herself more room to run. Nadia took huge and sailing lunar leaps, gaining speed. She felt like she could push herself clear of the moon entirely if she only kicked hard enough. She felt like she could fly through space as her own ship. She took several smaller steps to slow down when the Zvezda base came back into view. Gray-and-beige modules of the station lay half-buried in lunar dirt. The dirt was supposed to protect the modules from radiation and small meteors, and maybe it did protect the half that was actually covered, but the robotic shovel had broken before finishing the job. Now it looked like a ruin, a relic of some ancient space age rather than the cutting, rusting edge of Soviet engineering. Nadia tried not to be cynical about it. The moon base functioned well enough. She lived there. She breathed and ate there. But Nadia was from Moscow, and asking a Muscovite kid to be anything other than cynical about grand Soviet accomplishments was like asking fish to have eyelids. Besides, Aunt and Uncle had designed most of this place (though only Uncle actually got credit for it), so even though Nadia was proud of their astroengineering, she had also overheard enough dinnertime grumblings about shoddy shortcuts to know that Zvezda barely held itself together with string and spit. And Nadia loved sarcasm. She loved how it could make any word mean both itself and its opposite. “Nadia?” the Envoy asked, borrowed voice crackling over the radio. She imagined it peering through curved window glass in one of the unburied base modules, craning a long, purple neck to look for her. “Nadia, have you reached the airlock yet?” “Not yet,” she said, her voice pitched to soothe the worried Envoy. “But I can see it from here. Just a few minutes away.” “Stop,” the Envoy insisted. “Stop right there. Don’t come any closer. Find something to hide behind.” Nadia shuffled to a stop and looked around. She stood on a flat, featureless stretch of rock with nothing at all to hide behind. “What’s wrong?” “The Khelone ship is here. It is landing soon. It is landing immediately. I told you this would be a bad time to go for another idle walk.” “Fantastic,” she said, and made the word mean both itself and its opposite. “You said it would be here soon as in days, not soon as in minutes.” She was already running, each step a lunar leap. “Don’t pretend that the word soon is more precise than it really is,” the Envoy told her. “Have you found cover yet?” “Maybe.” She spotted a small crater, a hole in the face of the moon where some small rock had smacked into it, months or centuries or millions of years ago. She skidded while shifting direction, took two more leaps, reached the crater—and sailed right over it. She had to take several small stutter steps to slow down and double back. Then she hopped into the shallow hole. Nadia stood still, caught her breath, and finally looked up. She saw the Khelone ship. It was the only visible thing in the sky besides the sun itself. “Looks like a barnacle,” she said. “Apt comparison,” said the Envoy. “Khelone ships are living things. The pitted outer hull is a grown shell. Are you somewhere safe?” “I think so,” Nadia said. “Mostly. Probably.” The Envoy made a pbbbbbbt noise of nervous exasperation. “The force of the Khelone landing will throw a wave of dust and stone in all directions. One of those stones might shatter your helmet, or puncture your suit. That would be almost fitting. We survived a harrowing rocket launch, nearly exploded before we left the atmosphere, and barely managed to land out here. You have lived through impossible dangers already. Now you might be killed within sight of safety, by the very ship you summoned here, because you couldn’t resist another unnecessary moonwalk.” “Can’t bite your own elbow,” Nadia said. It was one of Uncle Konstantine’s expressions, and meant essentially the same thing as “so close and yet so far.” He always said it with a shrug. Uncle had had lots of expressions, as though he were in some sort of hurry to become a folk-wisdom-dispensing old man—which would never happen now. He had lived long enough to become grumpy, but not long enough to be old. Nadia turned her thoughts around to walk carefully away from memories of Uncle Konstantine and Aunt Marina. “I have no elbows, Ambassador,” the Envoy said with Uncle’s voice. She tried to crouch down in the crater. It wasn’t easy. Cosmonaut suits did not lend themselves to crouching. “Say something nice. I might be about to die, and then your scolding complaint about elbows will be the last thing I’ll ever hear. How sad. Say something nicer than that.” “Keep your head down, Nadia,” the Envoy said. “Please don’t die.” The Khelone ship threw a burst of energy at the ground to slow itself. That kicked up a wave of dust and stone, which expanded outward from the landing site in silence. Nadia tried to keep her head down, but small stones still smacked into her suit and helmet. She had very carefully appropriated this suit before coming to the moon. It had once belonged to Valentina Tereshkova, the first female cosmonaut—and, prior to Nadia’s flight, the only female cosmonaut. At that moment Nadia worried more about damaging the space suit of Valentina Tereshkova than she worried about dying from the damage. She idolized Valentina. The cosmonaut had repaired and reengineered her Vostok spacecraft while already in orbit. It never would have landed again otherwise. That was an embarrassing state secret, but Nadia came from a family of rocket engineers so she knew about it anyway. The small, pelting debris settled down. Nadia didn’t hear any hissing noises from Valentina Tereshkova’s borrowed suit. “Nadia?” the Envoy asked, worried. “Still here,” she said. “Excellent,” said the Envoy. “Now please hurry back. Try to reach the station before our guest does.” *  *  *  * Nadia Antonovna Kollontai was born on April 12, 1961. Yuri Gagarin launched into space on the same day. He was the first human to do so—or at least the first to come home again afterward. In 1969 Nadia became the ambassador of Terra and all Terran life. She was eight years old at the time. Ambassadors are always young. She lived with her aunt and uncle, and she handled intergalactic incidents on behalf of her planet. She did so in secret. Most human ambassadors do. Meanwhile her aunt Marina and uncle Konstantine worked on the Zvezda base. Americans had just landed on the moon, so lunar goals had fallen out of favor in the Soviet space program. Uncle Konstantine convinced his project leaders to send a few rockets and drop a few modules of moon base by remote control, but the project ended there. Zvezda sat unfinished, unoccupied, and already abandoned. Then Ambassador Nadia needed an off-planet site to arrange a meeting and hitch a ride. She stowed away aboard the last N-1 rocket to Zvezda in August 1974. After that she spent more than a month eating cosmonaut food from toothpaste tubes, taking long moonwalks, and waiting for the Khelone ship to arrive. Up close it still looked like a towering barnacle. Nadia wondered what it was like to swim through space the way fish swam in water, no barrier between yourself and all the nothing that there ever was. She wondered what it was like to be a living ship. Then she stopped wondering so she could wrestle with the Zvezda airlock latch. It opened on the third try. Nadia climbed through the airlock, sealed both the outer and the inner doors, and then lifted her helmet visor. The entrance module looked like the body of an airplane without passenger seats. It did not look hospitable or welcoming. It was a mess, an inauspicious place to make first contact. Engineers had no sense of ceremony. The ones in her family didn’t, anyway, and she expected other engineers to be pretty much the same. The Envoy scootched across the metal floor. It raised up its long neck and puppetlike mouth. “Ambassador,” it said, borrowed voice dryly formal. “Envoy,” Nadia answered. “Have you heard anything from our guest?” “Not yet.” Nadia nodded. Then she started to pace. She could see the Khelone ship outside, through the module’s single actual window. The opposite side of the module held a video screen pretending to be a window, one that showed looping footage of a scenic mountain view. Someone back home—definitely not Uncle Konstantine, but someone else on his team—believed that artificial scenery would benefit homesick cosmonauts. Nadia didn’t find the fake window beneficial. She tried to ignore it. “Please stand still,” said the Envoy. “I’m thinking,” said Nadia. “Must you always walk while thinking?” the Envoy asked. “Does your brain even work without the kinetic motion of your feet? You’re making me nervous.” It tinkered with a lumpy piece of machinery in its nervousness. “I hope the translator works. I did the best I could, but we have only so much equipment to work with here. Visual information may be distorted.” “We’ll make do,” said Nadia. “But stop fiddling around. You’re just going to break it.” She expected the translation device to break anyway. She had expected the rocket that brought them here to explode on the launchpad. She inherited this kind of cheerful hopelessness from Aunt and Uncle—especially from Aunt Marina. “Engineers, rocket scientists, cosmonauts; they all know that things will probably break, fall over, and explode,” her aunt would say. “But they’re always so happy to be wrong.” Something knocked on the outer hatch of the airlock. “Poyekhali,” Nadia said. “Here we go.”

By Charlotte Nomad is the continuation of the story begun in Ambassador. I hesitate to call it a sequel, because that implies there's a clear cut book one and book two, and Ambassador ended so abruptly, so cliff-hangery, with so much more to come, that it didn't quite seem a complete book on its own. On the other hand, Alexander did an utterly amazing job making Nomad able to stand alone (I know two readers who were surprised there was a first book), while simultaneously picking up what was started in Ambassador and running with it, that I am almost able to forgive him for the trauma of how the first came to a close. But now they are both out, and if you haven't read them yet, get them both at the same time and treat them as one story split into two books, and you will be in for a treat! These books are absolutely top notch sci fi for middle grade readers, and older ones too!Gabe Fuentes, once an ordinary kid, is Earth's ambassador to a universe full of alien cultures. Every species has an ambassador, and they are all kids, because only kids can use the mind warping mechanism that makes communication possible. Earth doesn't know about Gabe, though, nor do they know that the planet is in danger from an alien race, the Outlast, bent on taking over everything. The Kaen, a nomadic clan of space wanderers, has come to our solar system to escape the Outlast, and Gabe hopes they can help defeat them....but he has not a clue how.Meanwhile, Gabe's ambassadorial predecessor, a Russian girl named Nadia, has also met up with Kaen. She left her post years back to try a daredevil mission into the travel lanes of another group of aliens...the same travel lanes that the Outlast are using for their intergalactic blitzkrieg. That journey left her blind, with a fried visual cortex (for those who dislike magical/sci fi healing--it doesn't happen for Nadia), and the Kaen have taken her in. Gabe and Nadia, and the young Kaen ambassador, continue to try to find out how they can close the travel lanes....but the Outlast are drawing ever closer, and time is running out.And Gabe is also worried for his family--his Mexican parents came to the US illegally, and his dad has been deported (and his home blown up, as told in book 1). So the struggle against the Outlast is combined with Gabe's own journey back to Earth to find his father, and sort things out for his family, while being pursued by hostile aliens (as if boarder patrol worries weren't enough). It is an utterly compelling set up, with utterly compelling characters. That being said, these aren't books I'd give to kids who have to have things Happening all the time; there's rather a lot of fretting in place, as opposed to running around like crazy, acting adventurously. So much fretting, indeed, that I got a bit twitchy from it (possibly I was fretting more than the characters...). But gee, the scope and wonder of the story are mind-candy for readers who are science fictionally inclined. And the themes of communication and seeking safety are timely and well-written without belaboring the point. I also very much enjoyed how much the Kaen appreciated Mayan culture--they met the Mayans when their nomadic path took them past Earth millennia ago, and borrowed many elements of their art and architecture (copying the Mayan pyramids for themselves, in a nice twist on the regular aliens building them stories). And this time around, Alexander ends with an ending. A good one. (Except I really really want to know what happens to the Outlast ambassador...his story is still a very open ended one and I care about him, even though he was ostensibly the Enemy). My short answer--it's a bit like David Brin for the young-complicated, very inventive, the believability of its reality stretched almost to breaking point, and memorable as all get out. If you have a young sci fi minded reader who needs a present, do consider these two books.

Ford Small-Block Engine Parts Interchange, by George Reid

Review "With its comprehensive information charts and clear photography, this inexpensive 144-page softcover will prove itself hugely valuable to Ford engine builders." (Mark J. McCourt Hemmings Classic Car 2016-03-10)

From the Back Cover Over the years, Ford enthusiasts have learned that deciphering which Ford parts work with which Ford engines is a far more difficult task than with many other engine families. Will Cleveland heads fit on my Windsor block? Can I build a stroker engine with factory parts? Can I gain compression by using older-model cylinder heads, and will it restrict airflow? Is there a difference between Windsor 2-barrel and 4-barrel heads? These are just a few of the common questions that Ford fans have. These and many others are examined in this all-new update of a perennial best seller.

Thoroughly researched and, unlike previous editions, now focused entirely on the small-block Windsor and Cleveland engine families, this book includes critical information on Ford's small-block engines and goes into detail on the highly desirable high-performance hardware produced throughout the 1960s, 1970s, and 1980s. By combining parts from various years, some great performance potential can be unlocked in ways Ford never offered to the general public. Following the advice in Ford Small-Block Engine Parts Interchange, these engine combinations can become reality. Included is valuable information on cranks, blocks, heads, cams, intakes, rods, pistons, and even accessories to guide you through your project.

Author George Reid has once again done extensive research to accurately deliver thorough and complete Ford small-block information in this newly revised edition. Knowing what internal factory engine parts can be used across the wide range of production Ford powerplants is invaluable to the hot rodder and swap meet/Internet shopper. Whether building a stroker Cleveland or a hopped-up Windsor, this book is an essential guide.

About the Author George Reid has been a Ford enthusiast for more than 30 years. He enjoys restoring and building Fords. George has written a number of books for CarTech.

I especially like this book because I have a Mustang with a 289 V-8. This book has everything I need to customize my Mustang, ot just get the most out of my small block as it is. If you have a small block Ford, this book is perfect for you, too!

You can bet the instructional format is easy to follow and comprehend let alone the pictures which draws your eyes to each part like looking at the part in front of your eyes physically. The pictures clear and on point. Do's and don't helps but corrective action a big plus. Detailed and intricate when you deal with an engine but this source of reference is numerous uno! Thank you to the author. I received a free book, winner LibraryThing Giveaway. Thank you, Darlene Cruz

I was most interested in pulleys and water pump interchanges, the coverage was a bit spotty on these areas. I would have liked to see component pieces, brackets-pullys etc. That are matched sets. I was hoping to see a setup that would allow alternator installation on an original generator equipped car.

Photographers are always looking for perfect light. Unfortunately, the quality of available light, and the situations in which photos are created, are rarely perfect. This is especially true when photographing weddings or portraits on location. So while finding beautiful existing light is every photographer’s ideal, it isn’t always possible. This is the point at which photographers tend to reach for a portable, on-camera flash. Indeed, these intense light sources can prove invaluable, but only if you know how to use them effectively. In the hands of an inexperienced photographer, on-camera flash will produce images that look flat and lifeless—images with harsh shadows, washed-out skin tones, cavernous black backgrounds, and other unappealing visual characteristics. In this book, acclaimed wedding and portrait photographer Neil van Niekerk shows you how to avoid the pitfalls photographers new to speedlights often encounter so that you can produce professional images using on-camera flash. You’l learn to use simple accessories to manipulate the quality of light from your flash and how to improve a lighting scenario by enhancing rather than overwhelming the existing light. When the available light is too low and too uneven to be combined with flash, he shows you how to override it completely.

I have followed the author for a while on his website and he is an excellent writer, able to explain in simple English sometimes complex ideas. The quality of the book is high, the pictures wonderful. This is the second of his books that I have purchased, this was hard copy and the first was for Kindle. I found the hard copy to much more satisfying and pleasurable to read / follow as with the best will in the world the Kindle can be fiddly when jumping back and forward.

I realized last year that if I wanted to move my photography forward that I was going to have to learn about light and lighting.I've been following Neil for some time on his Tangent site. He is a master of on-camera flash not to say he isn't as masterful with strobes and constant light. My interest in lighting is using small flash off camera but I ran into circumstances that using off camera flash wasn't practical, hence the purchase of this publication. In just the few chapters I've read I see an immense improvement in photographs/portraits taken of my family so I can only imagine the improvement as I continue with the book and practicing.

Best Ebook PDF Online The Time Traveler's Wife, by Audrey Niffenegger

Audrey Niffenegger's innovative debut, The Time Traveler's Wife, is the story of Clare, a beautiful art student, and Henry, an adventuresome librarian, who have known each other since Clare was six and Henry was thirty-six, and were married when Clare was twenty-three and Henry thirty-one. Impossible but true, because Henry is one of the first people diagnosed with Chrono-Displacement Disorder: periodically his genetic clock resets and he finds himself misplaced in time, pulled to moments of emotional gravity in his life, past and future. His disappearances are spontaneous, his experiences unpredictable, alternately harrowing and amusing. The Time Traveler's Wife depicts the effects of time travel on Henry and Clare's marriage and their passionate love for each other as the story unfolds from both points of view. Clare and Henry attempt to live normal lives, pursuing familiar goals--steady jobs, good friends, children of their own. All of this is threatened by something they can neither prevent nor control, making their story intensely moving and entirely unforgettable.

The Time Traveler's Wife, by Audrey Niffenegger

From Publishers Weekly This clever and inventive tale works on three levels: as an intriguing science fiction concept, a realistic character study and a touching love story. Henry De Tamble is a Chicago librarian with "Chrono Displacement" disorder; at random times, he suddenly disappears without warning and finds himself in the past or future, usually at a time or place of importance in his life. This leads to some wonderful paradoxes. From his point of view, he first met his wife, Clare, when he was 28 and she was 20. She ran up to him exclaiming that she'd known him all her life. He, however, had never seen her before. But when he reaches his 40s, already married to Clare, he suddenly finds himself time travelling to Clare's childhood and meeting her as a 6-year-old. The book alternates between Henry and Clare's points of view, and so does the narration. Reed ably expresses the longing of the one always left behind, the frustrations of their unusual lifestyle, and above all, her overriding love for Henry. Likewise, Burns evokes the fear of a man who never knows where or when he'll turn up, and his gratitude at having Clare, whose love is his anchor. The expressive, evocative performances of both actors convey the protagonists' intense relationship, their personal quirks and their reminiscences, making this a fascinating audio.Copyright © Reed Business Information, a division of Reed Elsevier Inc. From Booklist On the surface, Henry and Clare Detamble are a normal couple living in Chicago's Lincoln Park neighborhood. Henry works at the Newberry Library and Clare creates abstract paper art, but the cruel reality is that Henry is a prisoner of time. It sweeps him back and forth at its leisure, from the present to the past, with no regard for where he is or what he is doing. It drops him naked and vulnerable into another decade, wearing an age-appropriate face. In fact, it's not unusual for Henry to run into the other Henry and help him out of a jam. Sound unusual? Imagine Clare Detamble's astonishment at seeing Henry dropped stark naked into her parents' meadow when she was only six. Though, of course, until she came of age, Henry was always the perfect gentleman and gave young Clare nothing but his friendship as he dropped in and out of her life. It's no wonder that the film rights to this hip and urban love story have been acquired. Elsa GaztambideCopyright © American Library Association. All rights reserved

Audrey Niffenegger did a beautiful job taking some of the most complex ideas - time travel, marriage, love, children, friends, literary and artistic allusions, religion, death, drugs, childhood, growing, loss, and what it means to be human - and weaving them together poetically and with amazing clarity. Her characters are wonderful, "real" people with strengths and flaws, and I really grew to adore them. Despite skipping around time at the same rate as Henry, the time traveler, the events are sequenced in such a way that you still witness each character's growth as a person, as well as discover many surprises along the way. Clare and Henry's story is one of the best love stories I've read in a very long time. This book also echoes important modern-day questions about the appropriateness of gene therapy, and what it means to be a human being. I highly and enthusiastically recommend this book.

I have loved such diverse books with this theme as "A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur's Court", "A Wrinkle in Time," and "Time and Again."I was not disappointed by "The Time Traveler's Wife." The book both moved me and challenged me to think about a number of deeper issues in life (most notably, the true meaning of love in a romantic relationship). The underlying story concerns Henry, a librarian at the Newberry Library in Chicago, and Clare, his artist wife. Henry suffers from CDP (Chrono-Displacement Order) which whisks him from the present to another point of time (usually the past). One minute he may be in the stacks of the Newberry Library in 2003, the next minute he may find himself in a field (probably naked) in Michigan with his future wife as a child sometime in the early 1980's.The author does an excellent job of sequencing the book. Even though Henry is shuttling back and forth in every chapter, she manages to move the plot forward. You do feel that you see Henry and Clare meeting, falling in love, starting a marriage and going through the stages of their lives. You do get to know their family and friends and see life happen to them. However, I do feel that the author could have better developed all of her characters, particularly the supporting ones. I wanted to learn more about their close friends, Gomez and Charisse, and their troubled marriage. I felt that the landlady from Henry's child-whom he constantly visited in his time-traveling modes-was a sketch figure that could have been better developed. I wished that the author could have mined deeper into the inner feelings of Henry and Clare.Still I would highly recommend this book to most readers. (If time-travel books bother you, this won't change your opinion.) It is a good, hard-to-put down read. And at the end, you're exhausted by all the travel!

To my surprise, I devoured this book in a few days and felt a pang of sadness when it was finished. The author crafts a story of something that is quite unbelievable and yet deftly makes it so very believable. I was hooked after the first chapter. Niffenegger managed to suck me in to this story so that I felt emotionally bound to the characters and their plight. It's a tragic story that weaves so much love/pain/joy/disappointment that it fairly bursts with emotion. Read it!

It's basically a review of Iot components and specifications. I was looking for more Lua coding examples in the area of home security and automation.

6 of 7 people found the following review helpful. Office 2016 Simplified By SouthGenie I seriously like this new Office 2016 Simplified guide. I’ve been using MS Office long enough to have had a long forgotten love/hate relationship with “Clippy,” that dancing office assistant from MS Word ’97 on my first computer after I finally abandoned word processors and typewriters. MS Office and Windows updates always make me feel a little disoriented, as if I’ve come to visit a place I used to live for the first time after a long absence and I know where I want to go but all the roads and sights are different and I can’t get there the way I used to. I also have that “use it or lose it” syndrome, so programs I don’t use often enough I can’t quite remember how to do what I want to do in. I love the Simplified series because they help me shake off the disorientation and help me find my way around again. This book is well written and organized, and has information for Word, Excel, Access, Outlook, PowerPoint, Publisher, and OneNote. It makes use of color tabs, bold and/or italic text, and screen shots to help you find what you need and draw your eyes to where they need to look to help you organize and use your data and complete the tasks you want to complete. The color tabs at the top help separate the chapters into sections, for example the chapters on Excel all have light purple tabs that you can look through for help with Excel. Colorful screenshots mimic what you might see on the screen while using the program, relevant text is bolded with colored buttons which pair up with matching colored pointer buttons on the screen shot so that you can read the instructions you need and immediately draw your eye over to a screen shot where you would enter the information or click. There are also notes that offer additional information or alert you to particular conditions that can happen and may want to avoid and in some places cross reference to other parts of the book.I can see why some people might feel like this book is oversimplified, but seriously I just want to do what I need to do and move on. I keep this book and The Windows 10 book handy as I work on the computer. I got a second set to keep at work and my co-workers are constantly popping over to borrow them as well. This Simplified Office 2016 book is my new go-to book for MS Office use, it’s a pleasure to use and definitely recommended.

But there are some big downsides. It's Windows only. Apple or Mac aren't even in the index. It's dry. And it's too simplified. For example, there's also no mention of 'dropbox' in the index. Only of real use if you've never used these classic software packages. So while it's fine, it greatly suffers in comparison to the many other guides that are just a click away on Amazon. Hope you find this review helpful.

By Frogsong I haven't used office in a number of years and even when I did it was only for quick and easy things that only required me to know the absolute basics. So, since I rarely used it, I didn't want to spend the money on it and used a free software instead. Now that Microsoft is offering a subscription service, I thought it would be nice to give it a try and see what the new 2016 has to offer. But since I am paying a monthly subscription, I wanted to make sure I had a good idea of all of the benefits it has to offer and in order to do that I needed to know what I was doing. For that reason, this book is perfect. It really takes you through the program in easy to follow steps so you can learn how the program works and what you can do with it. Office 2016 works well with Windows and really adds some nice features. The new subscription service allows you to basically take a tour of a fully functioning product and try it out without the huge investment. And if you don't like it, you can cancel. I very much recommend you get this book before you subscribe and, with the help of this book, make sure you're ready to spend a little time getting to know the software and all of it's new bells and whistles. Then you can better decide whether you want to continue with the monthly subscription, buy the software outright, or pass. This book is well written, well paced and very easy to use. For someone who is new to Microsoft Office, this book is a great place to start. However, if you are already familiar with Office, you might want to skip this book for a more advanced instruction book.
