About the Author Tom Knisely is the manager of The Mannings Handweaving School in East Berlin, Pennsylvania. He has taught weaving there for more than thirty years--everything from beginners' classes to complex multi-harness weaving--and was named Teacher of the Year by Handwoven magazine. He has design collections and instructional DVDs on looms, weaving, and other weaving matters published by Interweave press. He is the author of the popular Weaving Rag Rugs (978-0-8117-1212-5).

16 of 16 people found the following review helpful. Glad I got this book. By Amazon Customer I added this book to my wishlist and received it as a gift. I'm glad I did. It really is a beautiful book. There are about 30 drafts in total. About 13 drafts are for 8 shafts and about 17 are for 4 shafts. The weaving widths are between 32" and 36". It has instructions for the type and color of yarn for each blanket, what sett to use, etc. This would be a great book for a beginner weaver to get started with larger projects without having to weave small samples and not really knowing what works well together to match colors. It would also be good for an experienced weaver who just wants to whip something out quickly without having to plan everything. Very good book.

The pictures are so beautiful...incredible that one could get babies to sit for such lovely pictures. And as a new weaver, this is a wonderful inspiration for me. I have made two baby blankets so far, and now I have lots of ideas for future projects--and clear instructions. I so much enjoy just looking at the pictures of the blankets and the babies. This book is a delight to read, to browse and just to see!

The photographs are wonderful - full of life and color - and showcases the different patterns and blankets. I want to weave every single one of the blankets in this book. A definite must have book for any weaver and to those that are the recipients of any of these special, heirloom worthy blankets, they are very very lucky indeed. I can't wait to gift this to several members of the family for the holidays.
