About the Author Mark Chen is a Photographer, Adobe Certified Photoshop Expert/Instructor, Photoshop Trainer and the owner of Mark Chen Photography based in Houston, Texas.Chen's passion for photography started early, as a teenager in his native Taiwan. A pursuer of photographic artistry and a believer in imaging technology, Chen embraced digital photography with great enthusiasm. His computer science degree helped him feel at home with the digital post productions. Pairing the creativity, techniques and think-outside-the-box attitude, Mark Chen has established himself as the most creative wedding photographer whose wedding album designs are sought after by clienteles with discerning tastes.In addition to his studio operations, Chen teaches Photoshop at Houston Baptist University. and Houston Community College. He talks in depth about each camera setting, how they work and how to use them, and how they relate to each other. Then there is an entire chapter devoted to all of the qualities of light including adding in flash. The final chapter covers processing images. There are also several exercises throughout the book to get you thinking. A solid book for those new to photography.I received this book in order to review.

The concepts are broken down with good illustrations and analogies that the reader will understand. In depth look at aperture and shutter speed gives the reader a good foundation to better comprehend exposure. Good photographic examples to illustrate the differences in exposure settings. Problem Solving Exercises are a good idea for the end of chapters but could have been limited to one or two per chapter and gone more in depth with each question. I will recommend this book to students who want to learn more about about Mastering Exposure.I received this book in order to review it.

Beginners and professional photographers will find the tips and techniques in this book enlightening and useful. Even the most experienced photographer will gain new insights and perspectives for capturing and editing photo images and files. This book covers the process of capturing a great photograph by explaining how to use the best camera settings to the final editing process, "postproduction". The writer uses easy to follow and understand illustrations along with analogies that make the most complex segments of picture taking easy and simple. Useful "TRY IT" hands on exercises allow readers to gain a further indepth understanding of the basic hows and whys of photo taking and techniques.The first portion covers what the author refers to as "The basics". The writer uses easy to follow analogies and explanations that make topics like camera and aperture settings, judging exposure levels and distance easy to follow and understand. The final section covers photoediting and treatment techniques. The illustrations provided are from the Adobe Camera Raw editing platform but readers will have no difficulty following and utilizing techniques examples at home.
