In the medieval times, there was an immortal that was the perceived scourge back then. Chorlisr, a protector from the Ktaldeik (Tal-DEEK) had to defend the village against the eternal. He had to use witchcraft in order to damage him. The immortal, Gavis, was just sitting by a fire with his eternal mate in a cottage outside the village when Chorlisr attacked them without provocation. Chorlisr attacked, and inadvertently killed his eternal mate, Renae,. As Gavis vowed revenge, Chorlisr used witchcraft once more to destroy Gavis. He was affected, but ran into the wood to a dark wizard so he could be healed. He took a potion, but slept in a mountain range for one thousand years. In the 24th century, Chorlisr was long since dead so Gavis had to find his descendants to wipe out Chorlisr's lineage for good. He destroyed all but one. Adama Aruna was a history mentor, and also Chorlisr's last descendant. She became Gavis' target for his deadly malevolence, so he engaged her at a club to administer annihilation. Would we live differently if we knew we’ll live to the end of time? One thing for sure is we won’t be time-conscious. We could while away our life without feeling guilty or remorse. Would our society be organized differently? Would our relationship be different? Would we have religion or worship anything at all? Some of us could use our immortality to our advantage, wreak havoc on mortals. How about if learned that we are not immortal in the absolute sense of the word; if there were things that would destroy us. Would we behave or act differently?”In Robertson’s story we learn about an eternally-living demon named Gavis who wreaks havoc on humans. No mortal’s physical power, including his weapons can destroy him or his ilk, except magic. A mortal named Chorlisr Remmik took the challenge upon himself to destroy Gavis with magic. Although this scheme worked on another immortal, Gavis’ girlfriend, Renae, it only partially disabled the Gavis himself. With the help of a warlock, Gavis was revived but was disappointed when he learned that the cure will keep him dormant for a thousand years before he could avenge his mate’s killer. Just the same. Gavis became determined to take out his anger on Chorlisr Remmik’s descendants. In this volume, a thousand years later, we learn the beginnings of Gavis’ promised wrath on his enemy’s descendants. The question in the readers’ mind should be would Gavis have second thoughts, knowing that he could be attacked and actually destroyed this time by magic? Who knows, some members of Remmik’s line may have inherited their forefather’s magical powers. We need to read the next volume to find out. A good fast-paced read. Enjoyed the story.

By nerdy girl Kyle Robertson is a new author for me and a great find. His style of writing certainly is different from others and refreshing. Book 1 is the tragic beginnings of a feud that can only go wrong from here for the descendants of Chorlisr, an overly ambitious Protector that screwed up with achieving his goal, making a formidable enemy of Gavis instead. Looking forward to part two and the ending. I'm hoping Gavis realizes that he could kill everyone on earth and it will not change what happened to him, and then again. Maybe the team, trying to protect Chorlisr's last descendant, will find a way to put him down for good. But, I doubt it.

Great read By Kenneth Cole Recommend starting The Millennium Malevolence from the beginning because the story is complex, and each character is created with a depth that most humans cannot claim. If I write any further. This book is a true buckle up and enjoy the ride kind of thriller that does not force you to spend too much time figuring things out on your own began lost his sweetheart back in the Middle Ages and after a thousand year nap is back on the trail of the Last Descendant of the person who accidentally killed said sweetheart. This story jumps straight into the action which sucks the reader in immediately.
